This cross-sectional study aimed to investigate the employment status of graduates of medical records in 1999. A questionnaire was compiled and sent to all individuals graduated in this course from Iran and Shahid Beheshti medical universities during 1989-1997. Forty-three percent of questionnaires were sent back completely filled out. Individuals were asked to state, besides declaring the status of their employment, the most effective factors influencing their employment or unemployment in the occupations related to the specialty, their interest in the course and continuing their studies.
